Jewish Agency Completes Preparations to Absorb 100,000; Buys U.S. Army Camp

The Jewish Agency for Palestine has completed preparations for the absorption of 100,000 displaced Jews from Europe, it was reported today at a plenary session of the Jewish National Council.

At the end of this month work will begin on the construction of an army camp which the Jewish Agency has purchased from the U.S. Army. The camp is capable of accommodating 10,000 persons, and is being shipped in sections from France.

The meeting discussed the threatened deportation of visaless refugees to Cyprus and voted “to make clear to the world” that not even “sacrifices of blood will be spared” if an attempt is made to bar the refugee Jews of Europe from Palestine.

The Palestine Communist Party organ Kol Haam today published an editorial offering a united front to the left-wing Hashomer Hazair to combat terrorism. It suggested a joint meeting of the central committees of both parties or their representatives.

The Irgun Zvai Leumi last night posted placards in Arabic in Jerusalem urging Arabs to listen to the broadcasts of their underground radio.
