President Truman, assistant secretary of State Clayton, head of the U.S. delegation to the UNRRA Council, and UNRRA Director-General LaGuardia, were urged today to assume United States leadership in pressing for uninterrupted continuation of relief and rehabilitation services for the duration of the present world-wide emergency.

The appeal, motivated by the impending dissolution of UNRRA, was contained in a telegram to President Truman and cables to Clayton and LaGuardia, which were initiated by the National Council of Jewish Women and co-signed by: The Friends Committee on National Legislation, National Council of Church Women, National Council of Catholic Women, Women’s Trade Union League, National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, and National Council of Negro Women.
