U.S. Army headquarters here today issued an order reiterating its policy of barring German policemen from displaced persons camps for Jews unless “accompanied by American military police.”
Another decree ordered that no cases involving displaced Jews would be tried in German courts and that A.M.G. courts would have sole jurisdiction. It also declared that no Jewish DP would be kept in a German prison before, during or after his trial, and that if his sentence exceeded one year, he was to be kept in a special jail. A convicted Jew, unlike other DP’s, may not be sent back to his country of origin after completion of sentence, the order said.
