The release of the Jewish Agency leaders may help to reduce tension in Palestine, Colonial Secretary Arthur Creech-Jones told the House of Commons today, while an official spokesman of the Jewish Agency, welcoming the release, pointed out that they “should never have been arrested at all.”
Creech-Jones assured former Colonial Secretary Col. Oliver Stanley that the releases were not the result of a bargain, but were decided on because it was thought they would be best for security in Palestine.
