Acting Mayor Vincent Impenlitteri today signed a petition calling on President Truman to admit 100,000 Jewish refugees to the United States.

Prof. Joseph Chamberlain of Columbia University told the Academy of Political Science today that the U.S. must take the lead in opening its doors to displaced persons. If America acted other nations would follow suit, he said, estimating that Palestine and the United States could together accommodate 700,000 persons.
