Election of Israel Friedlander, an outstanding figure in Jewish communal life, as the first president of the Combined Jewish Appeal of Greater Boston, was announced today following a meeting of the new board of trustees.

The Combined Jewish Appeal recently attained nation-wide acclaim for the overwhelming success of its 1946 fund-raising effort. The 1946 campaign for $5,425,000 was over-subscribed by more than $1,300,000.
