The Joint Distribution Committee has opened its winter relief campaign in Sofla and 34 provincial centers with the distribution of 6,000,000 levas (approximately $25,000) in cash, clothing, food and medical supplies, it was revealed here today.
In addition the J.D.C. has arranged for the feeding of all children in Jewish schools and recently opened a number of soup kitchens in the larger cities. The Chanukah candles distributed last month were the first seen in the country for six years.
