The British representative to the United Nations, Sir Alexander Cadogan, this morning signed, without reservation, the constitution of the International Refugee Organization. The United Kingdom signature is the first so far which does not require any subsequent ratification.
The United Kingdom is the eleventh country signatory to the constitution. It thereby also becomes a member of the Preparatory Commission for the IRO, which is due to hold its first meeting at Ganeva on Feb. 11., and has been allotted a contribution of 14.75 percent of the first year’s operational budget of $151,060,500, amounting to $22,281,424.
