The Mizrachi Organization of America today announced its withdrawal from the Vaad Hatzalah Reli of Committee and the launching of an independent one-half million dollar emergency relief drive for European religious Jewry.
The move came about as a result of charges lodged at a World Mizrachi Resoue Conference that the Vaad Hatzalah discriminated against European Mizrachi members in mating out relief supplies. The Rescue Conference held in Basle, Switzerland, at the close of the recent World Zionist Congress, heard fifty Mizrachi representatives representing more than 12,000 Mizrachi and Haposl Hamizrachi members, file complaints that religious Jewish DP’s were being “starved out” in an effort to force them into the ranks of the Agudas Israel.
