Dr. Alfred Mandel, head of the Jewish community of Bad Ischl, Austria, has urged Chancellor Leopold Figl to take measures against the Austrian press carrying fallacious news reports discrediting Jews.

Citing several exemples of news stories which carried inaccurate allegations against Jews in the Bad Ischl area, Dr. Mandel’s letter said that such items “tend to create unrest among the population” and give the “impression abroad that anti-Semitism is increasing in Austria.”
