A request that the United States representative to the United Nations press for the admittance of as many Jews as possible to Palestine during the period that the subject is under investigation by the U.N. was made to President Truman in a resolution adopted at the semi-annual meeting of the executive board of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, meeting here.

In identically worded telegrams sent to Mr. Truman, Secretary of State Marshall and Warren Austin, chief U.S. delegate at the U.N., the federation of 340 reform synagogues asked that Mr. Austin “exert his best efforts toward the end that new, and until the report of the committee probably to be appointed shall be made, as many Jews as possible shall be admitted into Palestine.”

In his presidential report, Dr. Maurice N. Eisendrath reported that during the past year twelve congregations have joined the organization. It was decided to hold the next biennial general assembly of the union, on the occasion of its seventy-fifth anniversary, in Boston from Nov. 14 through 17, 1948.
