Posters calling on the Jews to start a “march to Palestine” appeared today in the Munich area and reportedly in many other parts of the American zone where displaced Jews are billeted. The placards were signed by “The Executive Committee in Germany for the March to Zion.”
Although the campaign is not officially supported by any Jewish group, it is known that the Revisionists last week predicted the appearance of the posters. They are also quoted as having said that “registration” for the march would begin “in about two weeks.”
An Army spokesman announced this morning that seven trucks carrying some 300 Jewish refugees which were halted about five miles from the Austrian border at Berchtesgaden during the week-end belonged to the Jewish Agency. Five of the trucks were owned by the Agency office in Munich and the other two by its office here. The spokesman said that the investigation of the movement is continuing.
Meanwhile, representatives of the underground immigration movement told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that “illegal” border crossings would continue despite the army’s attitude. However, it is still not known whether the military authorities intend to close the borders of the U.S. zone.
