Ten major Jewish organizations, nine of which collaborated at the Paris Peace Conference and there submitted a joint memorandum demanding guarantees for the Jewish communities in the ex-satellite countries, have re?med consultations in New York for the purpose of working out common proposals in connection with the Austrian settlement and the German peace treaty, it was announced today.
As in the case of the peace pacts with Rumania, Hungary, Italy and Bulgaria, the Jewish organizations are seeking adoption of clauses affecting the Jews in or from Austria and Germany. The Jewish organizations will, in the main, continue to ?rge the inclusion in the peace treaties of specific provisions guaranteeing fundasental human rights and equality before the law; the restitution of property to vic?ims of racial and religious persecution or compensation therefor; and the use of ?ownerless property of the victims of racial or religious persecution for the re?abilitation of the survivors.
In addition, the organizations will urge that the displaced persons in the camps of Germany and Austria be left under international control and not under the jurisdiction of the two countries.
