12,000 Jews Left Poland Legally Since Liberation; 2,000 Apply for Readmission

Nearly 12,000 Jews have emigrated from Pland legally since the liberation of the country, Gen. Viktor Grosz, Foreign Office spokesman, revealed today at a press conference.

He said that 8,777 had left up to Dec., 1946, and that an additional 3,194 emigrated between January and the end of May, 1947. He also announced that between 1,500 and 2,000 Jews had applied for readmission to Poland at embassies in Rome, Paris, Prague and Berlin.
