Admitting that the Haganah has played a “limited part” in helping suppress terrorism in Palestine, Colonial Secretary Arthur Creech-Jones today described in the House of Commons the Haganah’s recent foiling of a plot to blow up British headquarters in Tel Aviv, but declared that the government wished for a larger measure of cooperation.
Answering questions on why Britain had not used its full military might in Palestine to root out the extremists, the Colonial Secretary declared that Palestine High Commissioner Sir Alan G. Cunningham believed that the matter should be left to the police rather than the army.
