First World Congress for Jewish Studies Opens at Hebrew University in Jerusalem

The first World Congress for Jewish Studies opens at the Hebrew University tonight with Jewish scientists and educators from (##) countries attending.

The conference was opened by Prof. Nahum Torchiner, dean of the Faculty for (##) Studies at the University, under whose auspices the congress was called. Dr. (##)gnes, president of the University, who addressed the delegates, stated that (##) problem facing Jewish students was the answer to the question: “What is (##)” He called for the development of the study of Judiasm which, he asserted, (##) in its infancy.

Sir Leon Simon, chairman of the University’s board of governors, suggested (##) institution should create a general humanitarian culture rooted in “Israel’s (##) cultural values.” David Ben Gurion and David Remez greeted the delegates in (##) of the Jewish Agency and the Jewish National Council.
