A plea for a Christian share in any future government of Palestine and the return of the entire country to the status of a “Holyday” was urged today on the United Nations Special Committee on Palestine by the Rev.(##)rk-Kerr, moderator of the Church of Scotland Presbytery in Palestine. He also (##)ed cooperation of the three religions in the cultural and religious development of the country.
Rev. Clark-Kerr was preceded on the stand by Anglican Bishop W.H. Stewart, who (##)plained that Jewish and Moslem converts to Christianity were subjected to pressure (##) all sides. He charged that the government was too tolerant with the Moslem and (##)ish faiths, which had a detrimental effect on the Christian minority. He cited (##)tances where Moslem and Jewish converts had appealed to him for protection against their own communities. He also criticized the fact that UNSCOP held meetings on (##)day.
Bishop Stewart, replying to a question by Chairman Emil Sandstroem, said that (##) Christian share in a future government should be sufficiently strong to guarantee protection of the Christian minority. He pointed out that, as in the case of the Jewish and Moslem world, the Christian world as a whole was interested in the fate of Palestine.
