Gress Urged on Nation-wide Broadcast to Pass Stration Bill Before Adjournment

A plea to Congress to pass the Stratton Bill be(##)e it adjourns was made yesterday by Ira A. Hirschmann, substituting for former (##)or Fiorello LaGuardia on the latter’s nation-wide radio broadcast.

Mr. Hirschmann, who served as a special UNRRA inspector-general in Europe (##)st year, called on the U.S. Government to help solve the problem of the displaced (##)rsons without waiting for a decision by the U.N. Special Committee on Palestine, pointed out that American taxpayers are providing the funds to keep the DP’s in (##)e camps and that the money could be used to resettle the displaced persons in per(##)nent homes.
