Close to 10,000 displaced persons from Europe will be admitted to Canada within the next few months, it was announced today by Reconstruction Minister C.D. Howe, who asserted, upon his return from a visit to DP camps in Europe, that he was “very favorably impressed” with the type of persons he saw.

Jewish circles in Canada, however, are wondering how many of the 10,000 DP’s will be Jews in view of the fact that of 730 DP forestry workers recently brought to this country, only seven were Jewish, although the Joint Distribution Committee had registered 300 Jews in this category.

No decision on the question of admitting refugee physicians to relieve the acute shortage in Canada has yet been reached by the Federal Government, which is discussing this step with various provincial agencies.
