Endorsement of the Principle of legislative action ## end racial bias in institutions of higher education is contained in the current is## of the Columbia Law Review. A lead article analyzes the evidence of discriminatory admissions policies and practices brought to light by several studies of the American Jewish Congress and by a special investigating committee of the New York City Coun##, which investigated the medical schools in New York City after a suit filed by ## Stephen S. Wise against Columbia University.

The article also analyzes existing and proposed legislation designed to eliminate discrimination in education, particularly the Austin-Mahoney bill introduced in the State of New York, the Reiffen bill in New Jersey, the Taylor bill in Massachusetts, and the Chudoff bill in Pennsylvania. It concludes that such measures are a necessary and effective method of ending discrimination in non-sectarian educational institutions.
