Nine of the persons arrested in connection with the plan of Rabbi Baruch Korff to bombard London with leaflets from the air were arraigned in magistrates court here today.
Two women — Judith Rosenberger, Korff’s secretary, and Solomea Leibel — charged with having pamphlets prejudicial to national interests, were sent to Petite Roquette Prison, to await further action. Seven men, including Korff, were also ordered held on similar charges. Camille Schleyer, 42, a Rumanian Jew, director of the print shop where the leaflets were allegedly run off, was also ordered held. No statement was made during today’s hearing concerning the other persons reported arrested yesterday.
Reginald Gilbert, 25-year-old American pilot, who acted as a police agent in (##)warting Korff’s plan, was flown to England today in an R.A.F. plane and taken to an undisclosed hide-out, ostensibly to “protect” him from retaliation from the Stern Group. Gilbert continued to maintain that Korff and his associates had prepared six improvised bombs for dropping over the British capital, but French police have so far been unable to discover the explosives, although alleging that they have details of their manufacture.
