Jews Must Win U.S. Support of Unscop Report, J.N.F. Director Says

“The major task of American Jewry now is to win the U.S. Government’s support of the UNSCOP report,” Mendel N. Fisher, executive director of the Jewish National Fund of America, said today following his return from the Zionist Actions Committee meeting.

“The report,” he declared, “was received with caution and reserve by the Actions Committee pending a study of the details. American Zionists face a grave responsibility in the mobilization of public opinion. We must reach the heart of the State House and the State Department.”

During his stay in Zurich, Mr. Fisher met with Dr. Abraham Granovsky, world chairman of the board of directors of the Jewish National Fund, with whom he discussed important problems relating to the acquisition of land. The report on the Jewish National Fund submitted by Dr. Granovsky to the Actions Committee evoked great inter## and respect among the representatives of all the parties, Mr. Fisher reported. ##spite the White Paper and all other obstacles placed in our way, the Jewish National Fund has not only raised more money than it did last year, but actually redeemed ## land than in previous years. Emphasizing that the session of the Actions Committee was “a great improvement” over that held in Basle at the end of last year, Mr. Fisher declared: “The ##lition established in Basle continues. We were all fearful in the beginning that there would be a great deal of division in our ranks. Conscious of its tremendous responsibilities, the meeting of the Actions Committee concluded in a spirit of greatest harmony.”
