Gov. Thomas E. Dewey last night praised the activities of the 116 member hospitals and welfare agencies affiliated with the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York at a dinner opening the organization’s 90-day campaign for $15,000,000, which was attended by more than 1,000 Jewish communal leaders.

Asserting that the general outline of the Federation’s activities were well known to the public, he stressed the great advances in medical science made in the laboratories and clinics of the hospitals supported by the organization. Samuel I. Rosenman, who presided at the dinner, said that the increase in the Federation’s annual goal from $4,200,000 in 1932 to the current high figure indicated the extent of expansion of the services it offered.
