The immediate implementation of the United Nations Special Committee on Palestine report calling for partition of Palestine was endorsed here during the week-end by the 52nd annual encampment of the Jewish War ##eterans of the United States.The resolution also offered the services of the J.W.V. to the U.S. Government and the U.N. for the recruitment of an international constabulary for Palestine. Fu?er, it demanded the immediate withdrawal of British forces from the country and recognition of the Jewish Agency as the interim governing body of the projected Jewish state.
Addressing a banquet honoring Milton Richman, retiring commander, Harold E. tassen, Republican Presidential aspirant, declared that the full “strength” of the U.S. must support a U.N. decision in Palestine and urged that the government join with the members of the U.N. in “ending the displaced persons tragedy in Europe by taking substantial number of them.” He added that the U.S. must work through the U.N. for complete solution of the DP problem. Other speakers included Veterans Administrator ten, Omar Bradley and Governor of Minnesota Luther W. Youngdahl.
Col. Julius Klein of Chicago, a veteran of both World Wars, was today elected National Commander of the organization.
