The latest U.N. plan for the implementation of partition in Palestine, adopted by a four-nation working group yesterday, was today termed “more realistic than previous ones,” by “informed quarters” quoted by Reuters, which frequently reflects British Government views.
The same circles felt that the plan, which provides for the establishment of two independent states within two months after the withdrawal of British troops, set by Britain at about August 1, 1948, avoids “the fundamental problem of how to implement partition against armed opposition or in the event of disorder.”
