Some 350 displaced Jews living at the Ainring camp, ## Austrian border, last night peacefully evacuated their center and moved to ##feld camp, near Landsberg, south of here.
The move followed protracted negotiations between the DP’s and the Army during ## Jews refused to move, asserting they were settled in their temporary homes ## not desire to be shifted about Germany. The Army authorities threatened to ## if the Jews did not leave by last Monday. However, when the DP’s agreed at ## minute to move by themselves, the Army amended its order.
It was reported that the Army’s actions resulted from the belief in high mi## circles that the Ainring camp was a pivotal point in the movement of infil## from Austria to Germany.
Ugo Carusi, State Department immigration expert, who is touring Europe on a ## mission for President Truman in connection with the DP problem, told a meeting ##ntary relief agency workers that he expected Congress to pass legislation ad## more DP’s to the U.S. However, he could not state that the Stratton Bill, calls for the admission of 400,000 within four years, would be passed in its ## form.
