President Truman today received Dr. Leo Baeck, president of the World Union for Progressive Judaism, in the company of Dr. Maurice Eisendrath, president of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations.
Dr. Baeck, former Chief Rabbi of Berlin, congratulated the President on the magnificence and social vision of the social program outlined in Mr. Truman’s a State of the Union message yesterday. Rabbi Baeck is in this country as a guest of the J.A.H.C. and will tour the U.S. on an extended speaking tour as part of the organization’s second annual American Jewish Cavalcade.
