Jewish refugees in Italian DP camps have opened a campaign to raise funds for the defense of the Jewish community of Palestine, it was announced here today. The goal of the campaign is 20,000,000 lire. Several camps began collections before the central refugee bodies called for the drive.
Dr. Rafaele Cantoni, chairman of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Italy,has called on Italian Jews to contribute their jewelry and gold to the defense of the Jewish state, as they were forced to do during Mussolini’s war against Ethiopia.
