Further details of a recently concluded agreement between the Preparatory Commission for the International Refugee Organization and the World ORT Union for continuation of the ORT’s training program for DP’s in Germany, Austria and Italy have been released here by the local office of the ORT.
The agreement not only sets forth the responsibilities of the ORT, but com##ts the I.R.0. to provide suitable facilities for ORT projects, provide work ##tmes for ORT students, assist with equipment and supplies, provide work: opportunities for ORT graduates and give the ORT opportunity to execute work projects undertaken by the I.R.0. in ORT training workshops.
The agreement also gives to ORT the right to transfer its vocational training workshops, together with the remaining ORT supplies and equipment to Palestine ## other receiving countries, as the students which the ORT assistsemigrate to ##ch countries. The general terms of the agreement are to be implemented in individual countries or zones by additional agreements between I.R.O. directors and ORT representatives. The ORT has undertaken to expand its vocational training work ##ong Jewish DP’s in Germany, Austria and Italy, with the cumulative goal of training not less than 30,000 DP’s by the end of 1948.
