The French Government has agreed to lift its ban on the admission of refugee immigrants in transit to other nations, Hugo Rogers, vice-president of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, revealed at a press conference here today. His announcement was made shortly after a series of conferences with officials at the Foreign, Finance and Interior Ministries. The ban was in effect throughout last month.
Rogers paid tribute to the humanity of the French Government and people, pointing out that while other countries talked of their desire to aid DP’s and refugees, France acted. He also said that it was still extremely difficult for the Jewish organizations here, which are responsible for feeding the refugees while they are in France, to obtain sufficient food.
