Isaac H. Levy, noted attorney and vice-chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee, died today at Mount Sinai Hospital after a brief illness. He was 68 years old.
An active leader of the J.D.C. and the United Jewish Appeal, Levy also took a great interest in other Jewish communal activities. He was elected last month to the executive committee and the Board of Directors of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds.
Edward M.M. Warburg, J.D.C. chairman, issued a statement in behalf of the administrative committee of the organization, which reads in part: “In the death of Isaac H. Levy, the J.S.C., and the Jewish men, women and children throughout the world to whose behalf he gave of himself so “unstintingly, have lost a devoted friend. His been incisive judgment, his great gift of organization, his wise counsel and the unflagging interest he demonstrated in the cause of the tragic victims of Nazism constitute an unforgettable record of service.”
