Rabbi Louis Levitsky has been awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Department of the Army for “outstanding contributions to the program of the Chaplaincy Corps” during World War II, it was announced today.
Dr. Levitsky served as chairman of the Jewish Welfare Board’s executive committee of the Committee on Army-Navy Religious Activities, which recruited Jewish chaplains for armed forces during the war. He is spiritual leader of Congregation ?heb Shalom here.
