Hebrew Union College to Establish School for Teaching Sacred Music in New York

A School of Sacred Music will be established in New York next fall by Hebrew Union College, it was announced here today by Dr. Nelson Glueck, president of the College. The school will be set up in cooperation with the Society for the Advancement of Jewish Liturgical Music.

The new institution will offer courses for the training of cantors, music directors and organists to serve in synagogues in this country. Scientific research in the field of Jewish liturgical music will also be conducted. The establishment of the school was authorized, and a budget approved, at a recent meeting of the Board of Governors of the College.
