Sharp differences of opinion developed today between the American and Soviet delegates at the U.N. Economic and Social Council on proposal to elect three members of the Joint Economic Board for a partitioned Palestine at this session.

The proposal was introduced by Soviet delegate A. Arutiunian. The American Delegate Leroy Stinebower argued against it and urged that the elections be held at the next session of the Council in July. After severe attacks against the U.S. policy in Palestine by the delegates of the U.S.SR., Poland and Byelorussia, the Council ##ted 9 to 3, with six abstentions, to postpone the elections.
