Egon Erwin Kisch, Noted Czech-jewish Author Dies in Prague at Age of 63

Egon Erwin Kisch, author and journalist who two days age was elected honorary chairman of the Prague Jewish Community, died here today at the age of 63 from a heart attack. He had been ill for some time.

Arrested by the Nazis in Berlin in 1933, he was released through the direct intervention of the Czech Government. He covered the civil 17ar in Spain and later lived in Paris. When war broke out he came to the United States, but left after a year to live in Mexico at the invitation of the Mexican Government. He returned to Czechoslovakia in 1946 at the request of the Czech Government. He was the author of more than 20 books which were translated into eight languages.
