Two volumes published by Schocken Books, a firm devoted to publishing Jewish literature, have been selected by the American Institute of Graphic Arts for inclusion among a group of volumes representing the best examples among a group of volumes representing the best examples of American book-making.
The two volumes are “Polish Jews,” by Roman Vishniac, a collection of photographs on the life of pre-war Polish Jewry; and “The Pharisees,” by Dr. Leo Beck, former Chief Rabbi of Germany. They are among the “Fifty Books of 1947″ no” being exhibited at the N.Y. Public Library and which will later be shown in all major cities in the U.S.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
