The second session of the World Jewish Congress will open on June 27, in Montreux, Switzerland, Dr. Ignacy Schwarzbart, head of the world Jewish Congress organization department, announced today. Delegations representing organizations affiliated with the Congress in 64 countries are expected to ##tend, the announcement said.
Chief subjects on the session’s agenda, Dr. Schwarzbart said, will be “to consider means of safeguarding the well-being and future of the Jews all over the world to unite all creative Jewish forces for that purpose, and to gain the support ## nations and governments for their fight for life as a historic entity.”
A special Palestine meeting is being planned, Dr. Schwarzbart added. Other concessions will be devoted to the rehabilitation and reconstruction problems of Jewish life; to the legal situation of the Jews in various countries to the cultural problems “which confront the Jewish people now more than ever; and to finding ways ##f strengthening the ties of the new Jewish generation with our past and with the concerns of our future.” Problems of the organization and future structure of the congress will also come under consideration in accordance with the present situation of Jews throughout the world.
