?.o. Parley Hears French Appeal to Nations for Admission of Refugee Immigrants

Strong support for the “fair Share” plan for the admission of refugees to immigrant-receiving countries was voiced here today at the part of the Preparatory Commission of the International Refugee Organization by Pierre inciter, French Secretary of State for German and Austrian Affairs.

He said that the DP problem could be solved only if .all nations would accept number of immigrants proportionate to housing availability and similar criteria in their countries. Advocating increased employment and vocational retraining programs ##r DP’s in camps in Europe, Schneider said that France could not accept a proposal at persons who became refugees after Feb. 1, 1948 would be eligible only for I.R.O. signal aid. “It is the duty of the I.R.O. to take care of all refugees regardless of on they became refugees, “he stated.

Farlier, a plan which would enable 10,000 refugee students now in Europe to continue their studies for four years on scholarships provided by students enrolled in Universities throughout the world was presented by Joseph Schneider, of Belgium. ##neider and George Warren, of the U.S., were instructed by the meeting to draw up resolution asking the I.R.O.’s executive secretary to present the plan to member government.
