John McDonald, U.S. Consul-General, was prevented day by members of the Arab Legion from returning to Jerusalem after visiting Tel Aviv. He was detained by the Arab control station on the road between the two cities and was forced to return to Tel Aviv.
Israeli authorities are arranging for the return of the American diplomat to Jerusalem by way of the new road which the Jews built during the Arab siege of the city and which has been named “Commander Marcus Road” in honor of Col. David Marcus, the American Jew in supreme command of the Jewish troops in the Jerusalem area who was killed several hours before the truce became effective.
A convoy of 38 food trucks reached Jewish settlements in the Negev today. The transport passed the Egyptian military lines under the supervision of United Nations servers.
