Thirteen women guards and officials at the Ravensbrueck concentration camp for women have been sentenced to life imprisonment at hard labor, while three others received 20 to 25 years sentences from a Soviet military tribunal, it was learned here today. All the defendants pleaded guilty to the torture and murder of hundreds of thousands of prisoners, including many Jews, at the camp and its satellite centers.
George A. Zinn, Minister of Justice of the province of lease, has ordered provincial courts to intensify their investigations and prosecutions of youthful vandals who have been desecrating Jewish cemeteries in the province. Under-age offenders will be tried by special youth courts, while their parents will be liable to fines and prison terms up to six moths.
