Jewish National Fund to Continue Its Work in Israel As Autonomous Body, Board Decides

The Jewish National Fund will carry on its land purchasing program and cognate soil reclamation work as an autonomous body which will cooperate with but will remain independent of the authorities of the state of Israel. A decision to this effect was taken by the Board of Directors of the J.N.F. at a meeting held yesterday. The Board, which met in the Jewish Agency building under the chairmanship of Dr. Abraham Granovsky, head of the J.N.F., heard an extensive report by Judge Morris Rothenberg, president of the Jewish National Fund of America, on the activities of the Fund in the United States. The consensus of opinion, as crystallized after a full discussion, was that it was essential to maintain and safeguard the autonomy of the Fund. Aaron Wright, president of the J.N.F. of Great Britain, and Mendel N. Fisher, J.N.F. executive director in the United States, also attended the meeting.
