A group of Jewish immigrants bound for Israel today left for Marseilles where they will board a vessel to complete their Journey. The French Government gave them special permission to use Marseilles as a port of embarkation.
Today’s immigrants were part of a group of 156 Rumanian Jews who received Palestine immigration certificates from the British Mandate Government before May 15 and have been awaiting transportation to Israel. Permission for 50 more to embark at a French port has been requested, but the French Government has not yet acted on it. The Joint Distribution Committee is paying the rail fares of the immigrants.
