Dr. James G. Heller Resigns from Zoa; Disagrees with Policy; Joins Labor Zionists

Rabbi James G. Heller, former co-chairman of the United Jewish Appeal and of the United Palestine Appeal, has resigned from the Zionist Organization of America and affiliated himself with the Labor Zionist Organization of America, it was announced here today.

In a letter to Dr. Berl Frymer, L.Z.O.A. executive secretary, Dr. Heller, who is also spiritual leader of the Isaac M. Wise Temple in Cincinnati, declared what he was “deeply out of sympathy with the present policy of the Z.O.A.” He revealed that he has already applied for membership in the Labor Zionist chapter in his city in order to join in unity with “the spirit of justice and of idealism that characterizes the Histatdruth.”
