U.S. Will Support Israel’s Admission to U.N. Rep. Javits Tells U.J.A. Parley

The United States will support the application of Israel for membership in the U.N. at the General Assembly session which opens in Paris Tuesday, Rep. Jacob K. Javits of New York today told 300 Jewish leaders from New Jersey, Delaware and Eastern Pennsylvania attending a regional conference of the United Jewish Appeal here.

Javits told the assembled Jewish leaders that he had received “authoritative Information” from the Secretary of State that the U.S. will support Israel’s application, Urging the granting of a $100,000,000 loan to Israel by the Export-Import Bank, Javits added that a $300,000,000 Middle East Recovery Program is actually necessary for Israel to take the lead in the economic recovery of that area. The delegates to the tri-state parley unanimously adopted a resolution to “mobilize all resources of devotion, manpower and funds for the supremely urgent needs of the United Jewish Appeal.”
