The Board of Deputies of British Jews late today adopted a resolution urging the British Government to recognize the state of Israel. The resolution also voiced the hope that Britain would support the admission of Isra to United Nations membership.

In another resolution, the Board joined with the “whole civilized world in a feeling of profound shock and distress at the tragic loss” of the late U.N. Palestine mediator Count Folke Bernadette. The statement hoped that the government of Israel would apprehend those suspected of “complicity in this dastardly crime” and “would root out the evil of terrorism.”
