A Federal Court here ruled today that illegal immigration is not an offense punishable by Argentine law. The decision was handed down at the end of a trial of 21 Jews who entered Argentina illegally and who have been detained for several weeks. The Jews were acquitted.
Anti-Semites resumed today their distribution of anti-Jewish leaflets in the streets of this city. Some of the pamphlets attempt to exploit the assassination of Count Bernadotte. Although pro-government newspapers have pressed the police to take action against the publishers and distributors, nothing has been done to stop them.
A conference of the “League for Labor Palestine,” attended by more than 120 delegates from all sections of Argentina, concluded here today after reconstituting itself as the “Central Committee for the Histadruth.” Marcos Regalsky was elected chairman of the new group. The Committee also launched a fund-raising campaign, but did not set a specific goal.
