NEW YORK (Oct. 29)
Dr. Nelson Glueck, president of Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati, was formally installed today as president of the Jewish Institute of Religion of this city.
Dr. Glueck, who was elected head of H.U.C. in 1947, has been serving as chief executive of the Jewish Institute of Religion since last June, when the merger of the two seminaries of Liberal Judaism was announced. He succeeds Dr. Stephen S. Wise, who founded the J.I.R. in 1922 and has been its president since that time. Dr. Wise, who has been named president emeritus of the Institute, delivered the installation address.
