The Cuban Senate today received a bill urging it to ask the newly-elected president, Dr. Carlos Socarras, to change the Cuban U.N. delegation’s attitude towards Israel. Cuba has usually sided with the Arabs in all discussions of the Palestine case at the United Nations.
The motion was introduced by Senator Santiago Rey, head of the parliamentary bloc of the Republican party, and Senator Jose A. Casabuena. The bill points out that in October, 1945, the Cuban Senate went on record in support of the establishment of an independent and democratic Jewish state in Palestine.
