The Transvaal Congress of the Nationalist Party, which opened yesterday, will discuss, probably in closed session, the question whether the ban on Jewish membership in the party should be removed.
Motions have been offered by various local branches of the party including one for state aid to the immigration of “assimilable” elements from Europe. Another urges that only Protestants be allowed to settle in South Africa. Still other resolutions include one envisaging the curbing of foreign correspondents who “misrepresent” South Africa and controlling the movements of South African nationals beyond the borders of the Union where such action is necessary in the national interest.
