State Dept. Orders Protest “if Necessary” Against Egyptian Seizure of U.S. Ship

The State Department has instructed U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Stanton Griffis to protest “if necessary” to the Egyptian Government over the seizures of an American merchant ship at Port Said, apparently on the theory that it carried goods consigned to Israel.
